For those people who are asking if
October 31 is a holiday or not, the answer is no. This is not a holiday because
it was not approved to the list of holiday 2014 of President Benigno Aquino III.
This was announced by Presidential Communications Office Secretary Herminio
Coloma Jr. on October 26. However, Sec. Coloma said it is up to the employers
if they will allow their employees to work half-day. Under Proclamation no. 655,
only Nov. 1 was listed as special non-working holiday.
Once, Oct. 31 was declared by P-Noy
as a special non-working holiday, it was 2011 and since then Filipino people
always check if it is a holiday or not. Unfortunataly, P-Noy never declare it
again as a holiday.
This is really a sad news for those
assuming that there is a long weekend during all souls days. If you’re an employee,
you may absent but you need to file a leave form in your office. Unfortunately,
Nov. 1 & 2 will be fall during Saturday and Sunday that’s why we can’t feel
the holiday. But it is not important anymore, the most important is we will
commemorate our departed love one during this season.
