Is There a Corruption in Philippine Media?

Probably, like in government, there is also a corruption in the media. The work of media men is to collect news and the latest information to educate people and bring awareness to the people what’s happening in the society. But the temptation is near to them.

Some of media men are abusing their power that’s why there are  AC/DC in their rank meaning to attack and collect and defend and collect. This is very common to tabloid writers. They are practicing under the table because their professional fee is very low. If you’re just a contributor the publisher will only pay you 100 per story or per words. So, is this enough to give you a decent life. While their field reporter is also per article basis. The problem is they don’t get a fee if their stories didn’t publish. Plus the fact that there are many competitors in a newspaper. So, they need to think other source of income how to survive.

There is no problem if they are only given a PR to personalities. There’s nothing wrong about beautifying the image of someone unless what they are protecting is very notorious person or groups. Some media people are visiting the office of government official, police station. They make friends with politicians and police officials to ask a favor or to solicit money. Some of them also are going to Peria to ask protection money from the owner. Ops, not only the tabloid reporters doing this, but also the radio reporters.

But how about the news that Mike Enriquez and Korina Sanchez are also involved in corruption according to Benhur Uy list? They are not just an ordinary broadcaster, but an institution to television broadcasting. They are known for having a high integrity and professionalism in their field.  As a TV viewer it is hard to believe that the two personalities were accepted a cash gift or bribery from Janet Napoles. So, if this could be true, the accuser must prove it. But even the lawyer of Janet Napoles denied that Mike and Korina were accepted money from his client. He said that Janet has feared to the  media because of the kind of her business. Even the home network of the said two personalities defended them. They said that they are still trusting them, and there is no strong evidence that the allegation is true.

By the way, there is a joke posted on Facebook said that ‘How can Mike Enriquez accepted bribery if he don’t treat his cough. Mike is always saying “Excuse me po” before he gets cough in the front of the camera. We knew that this is just his trademark. How about Korina? Does she need a bribery, although she has already plenty of it? Maybe there are people who will say that the politicians are already rich, but why ther are still robbing the money of the people? Well, that’s another topic...
